Shinagawa Refractories’ affiliate in Brazil made logos for their product brands, and they won the ‘if Design Award’, one of the 3 major design awards in the world. This is an extraordinary achievement for a company belonging to the refractory industry, and their logo designs were highly evaluated since ‘the innovative designs raised awareness in society of the importance of refractories’.

Shinagawa Refractories acquired the Brazilian business at the end of 2022 from Saint-Gobain, which is headquartered in France. After this acquisition, last year Shinagawa Refractories Brazil decided to renew their product brands to customer-centric brands, and they made logos that matched the names of each of their brands. The logos have kanji-style designs to pay homage to Japanese culture, and they represent how the refractories are used.

Some call the iF Design Award the ‘Academy Awards of the design industry’, and each year awards are given to various industrial products. For this year the award winners included products of Shinagawa Refractories Brazil, Apple, Google and BMW. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in April in Berlin, Germany.
